    49 CFR 177.870(b) allows only small-arms ammunition, emergency shipments of drugs, chemicals and hospital supplies, and certain military munitions on passenger vehicles for hire, and only when other practical transport is unavailable. Section 177.870(c) forbids other explosives in the passenger space, and the Washington guide says buses must never carry poison gas or tear gas.
