Why does a large bus need enough space ahead of it?
A smaller vehicle ahead can probably stop faster than a large bus. Space ahead gives the bus driver time and room to stop; the manual's base rule uses vehicle length and adds one second above 40 mph.

Which emergency equipment must a bus carry under current federal rule?
A bus must have a properly rated, charged, accessible fire extinguisher and stopped-vehicle warning devices. Three reflective triangles are one allowed warning-device option. Spare fuses are not federally required, although a carrier may carry them.

A bus stalls on the tracks with a train approaching. After evacuating, where should passengers move?
Move people clear of the tracks and away from the likely path of collision debris, toward the approaching-train side as you move away from the rails. Do not wait beside the bus; obtain emergency help from a safe location.

The passenger manual says not to transport hazardous material unless you are sure the rules allow it. Material, quantity, packaging, marking, and location can all matter. ORM-D marking was phased out for U.S. ground transport, so an old label is not a current permission rule.
